Boat Building

BBS Timbers began trading in 1981, importing Burmese Teak for the boat building industry.  We are regarded as leaders in the industry when it comes to producing top quality Teak products such as quarter sawn boat decking, margin boards and king planks.

We have now expanded our services to the boat building industry even further by stocking a range of products, including:

Construction Timbers
We have good stocks of timbers for boat construction and refits including H3 Kahikatea, Yellow Cedar, Macrocarpa, Cedar, Spruce and Kauri as well as Douglas Fir (Oregon) vertical grain for Masts. We supply hardwoods for engine beds and quarter-sawn Teak for handrails as well as Teak decking. 

Plywood
All of our branches stock a range of plywood including 100% Meranti BS1088 and Gaboon BS1088, a lightweight ply for construction when weight is of importance.  This is also available in larger supa size sheets of 3100x1550mm, which allows for less joins and wastage in hull construction.

Hardwood marine ply is also available for areas that require maximum strength.  Standard thickness available in 4mm, 6mm (5 ply), 9mm, 12mm and 18mm.  Please check with our Sales team for other thicknesses.

Finishing Timbers
We stock a comprehensive range of timbers for interior fit outs including Teak, Oak, and Cherry.  We complement this with a range of timber veneered plywood in various thicknesses to match our solid timbers.

Yellow Cedar - 50mm.Rough Sawn.

Hardwood for Engine Beds - Good range of sizes.

Teak - Full range of sizes including 3 Lengths: Specs – Short, Medium and Long.
